Here's to you 2013

Feels like I got snatched by a Weeping Angel cause all I did was BLINK and I got time displaced from January to December (ok it doesn’t work like that with Weeping Angels but who knows…who nose hehe).

What a quick year it was but what a year in general it was.  Lots of big events as with any other year: I got promoted, turned 26, dealt with tougher terrors, went to one of the best Otakon’s I have ever been too (really need to put those photos up lol)  I saw the return of the 10^th Doctor, the introduction of the War Doctor and bid a sad farewell to the 11^th Doctor.  And I also said goodbye to a couple of family members and friends.  Oh and I found out health insurance is such a bitch.

It had it’s great times but 2013 had it’s dark times as well.

While I had posted a few stories before the new year, all featuring ’s amazing cast of damsels in distress, 2013 was the true Big Bang of my page.  Starting with what was meant to be a short series, Crimson in the Soul Society, featuring my very good friend ’s OC interacting with characters we both love (the show overall…debatable at times lol) became a three season and 27 episode epic that grew and evolved and rekindled my once thought lost love for writing.  Then in April 2013, a big step was made.  Thinking about the sexiest but most mobile outfit I could put a woman into plus the heartbreaking finale of Halo 4, Emma Sapphire and Rei were born along with the Shadow Samurai.  Man I had no idea how well she would be received by everyone.  The reception to Emma and Rei’s adventures and their powerful friendship made me smile on some very bad days.  And when work sucked a great deal, I could always look forward to coming home, grabbing a Pepsi, eating some noodles or popcorn and drafting up ideas for future stories with several friends I made who have brought their own style to Emma and Rei.  Crimson took a strong liking to my newly crafted English Professor turned heroine and had her team up with her own OC in their own little universe where they are not just partners in crime but the very best of girlfriends and that story is still going on.  A new friend I made this year, also took a liking to Emma and produced two of his own tales, one of which I have made official cannon while the other was my dream team up with my OC and our shared fan favorite Supergirl.  To these two authors and very dear friends, I really don’t know what to say that I haven’t said already.  This year one of the biggest and best highlights besides creating Emma and Rei is being able to work on bettering her with you guys and helping you with ideas for not just Emma but your own stories as well.  ‘Thanks’ will never be enough and I hope we can keep it going for a long time.

That’s not to say they were the only ones giving me plenty of inspiration.  Working with ’a characters again in a couple of tales reminded me that working with him got me back into writing and his return with even more amazing pics of Amanda Jones and company is happy tear worthy.   , , and even my…frenimy (?) and lover of Twinkies all leant me their eyes, ears and support to most of Emma and Rei’s adventures this year and I’m so happy they’ve enjoyed the ride with everyone else so far. I really will try and do my best to incorporate yours and everyone elses suggestions into future Shadow Samurai tales and hope you guys enjoy what’s coming next.

What is coming next in 2014?  Well, Shadow Samurai rolls forward.  Arc 4 and Emma and John’s wedding are first up along with an interesting 5^th Arc as well.  Plus, there is Emma’s daughter, Kate, and her new Team Shadow to look forward to sometime next year.  Who knows what else might evolve from these tales.  I’m already tempted to do some work with Kate’s new friend, Alissa the Ice Princess. But we will see.  Oh and of course expect more reviews of films, TV and whatever else I can think of.  I did see American Hustle and Saving Mr. Banks recently but I want to do a mass End of 2013 review set which will feature them and hopefully Anchorman 2 and The Wolf of Wall Street.  Oh and my top films of 2013 isn’t far away either (maybe even today if im up for it).

Sigh, my friends, it has been a great year here on DA.  Crimson, S, Dev, Pablo, Azure, Dee, Torqual, , , and some people I know I might be forgetting: there is no greater team of creative minds I would rather work with than all of you.  You’re amazing, you’re awesome and you kick so much ass.

So here’s to the end of 2013 and the coming dawn of 2014.  In the words of one of the best inspirations ever…GERONIMO!!!!!
